Hello everyone,

How is the week going? I hope you have something fun to do this weekend. I have my christmas party at work this weekend so that should be fun. Thanks for the feedback on the first post on ‘three ways’ with our awesome ingredient quinoa. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make a post for the main course this week because my SD crashed and I have to go get another one 🙁 Please bear with me while I fix this and I promise we will continue this segment on ‘three ways’ next week.

I had to think of something really quick to blog about and I thought ‘sauces’. I know sauces are usually an addition to our meals and they do make the food taste better but there are lots of calories packed in some of those sauces and we don’t know it. For me, I generally stay from creamy sauces. Any sauce with a creamy base made from milk, cheese i.e. mayo, cream cheese, garlic spread etc is not an option for me. I generally steer towards having sauces that are made from vegetables or fruits i.e. salsa, ketchup, pesto, chili etc. If I am going to have a creamy based sauce to go with my meal, I will go with the option of making it at home as opposed to getting it at the store. At least that way I know what is going inside and I can substitute some of the ingredients with healthier version and not pack on so much calories.

What are some of the sauces you avoid and what sauces do you like to go with your food? Also, what sauces do you love and have tried to make the healthier versions of? Remember we are all about helping each other live a healthier lifestyle. I will continue with ‘three ways’ next week once I sort my memory card issues out.
