Bez, a Nigerian soul singer and guitarist takes his alternative soul sound to New York City this May. Bez’s Alternative Soul, is an understated and unusual hybrid of African, Soul, Rock, Jazz and R&B music that sets him well apart from the mainstream Afro hip-pop movement.A natural performer with a charismatic and playful stage presence, Bez has the singular honor of being the first African artiste to premiere a music video for “That Stupid Song” on BET International’s 106 & Park. His debut album Super Sun, was released in July 2011, was listed on The Boston Globe as one of the top ten “World Music” albums of 2011.

Bez has already opened for international sensations, Asa, Angie Stone, Yvonne Chaka Chaka;

In March of this year, Bez and his band performed 2 concerts on the Spinlet- All Africa Showcase at the 2012 SXSW musical festival in Austin TX; opening for Seun Kuti and Blitz the Ambassador.

He will be performing in NYC on the dates below:

  • Wednesday May 16 2012 @ SOB’s along with a series of artists. Doors open at 7 pm (EST). – 204 Varick Street  New York, NY 10014 ( Corner of Varick and 7th ave. Right off the Houston stop on the 1 train)
  • Bez will also be the featured guest of Society HAE on a live radio broadcast on on May 22nd from 5pm-7:30 (EST). Live acoustic set starts at 6pm
  • The Shrine in Harlem on May 23rd @ 10pm (EST). 2271 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Bl  New York, NY 10030 is the video for his current single “That Stupid Song” is a live performance on Flair links to audio of songs from Bez’s debut album
